Casino di Venezia in Appeals License Cancellation

Casino di Venezia's has appealed to the Lotteries and Gaming Authority board to reconsider the cancellation of its casino license.

The board will meet on August 3 to review the appeal of the casino operators.

Casino di Venezia's, located at Vittoriosa, license was cancelled last July 17th on the basis that the human resources of the casino was insufficient to manage its gaming operations in accordance with the law.

Casino di Venezia was given twenty one days to appeal.

Sources from the casino said that the move took place after fourteen employees were dismissed in the wake of rowdy party on the World Cup final night.

During the party, too much alcohol was drunken, intoxication was evident, over three hundred fifty glasses were broken and indecent acts in the presence of casino guests were reported.

The licenses of the dismissed employees were also cancelled.

The employees were also given twenty one days to make an appeal.

Joe Zammit Maempel, chairman of the Lotteries and Gaming Authority, said that though the twenty one days will expire on the 6th of August, he expects that the majority of the appeals would had been received when the board meets by August 3.

After the hearing, the board will decide whether it will cancel the license or to bring it back to the casino.
